What You'll Do:

As the Director of Consulting, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer and will play a pivotal role in executing eCommerce strategies for mid-market and enterprise-level clients, primarily in the USA and Canada. Your responsibilities will include:

  • eCommerce and Digital Retail Strategy:

    • Leading various strategy and design studios.
    • Owning and delivering a detailed roadmap that includes UX, solution and technology models, plans, and corresponding budgets.
    • Executing and overseeing eCommerce projects for public and global retailers.
  • Evangelism and Management Expertise:

    • Leading and implementing large-scale eCommerce projects within an engineering or consulting firm.
    • Crafting go-to-market strategies and delivering presentations to C-Suite executives and at industry-leading conferences.
  • eCommerce Technical Management and Oversight:

    • Managing the work of developers and technical teams, ensuring high-quality delivery of eCommerce solutions.
    • Defining and managing the high-level technical architecture and technology stack, with a focus on eCommerce platforms.
  • Mentorship and Team Collaboration:

    • Cultivating talent within the team and ensuring the successful delivery of cutting-edge eCommerce solutions.
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technology efforts with business goals.
    • Managing multiple delivery teams and ensuring that deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Client and Business Management:

    • Providing expert guidance and nurturing relationships with client stakeholders.
    • Identifying and fostering growth opportunities within eCommerce projects, delivering business value for clients.
  • Risk Management and Process Improvement:

    • Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact project success.
    • Reporting and escalating issues to senior management as necessary.
  • Thought Leadership:

    • Positioning the consultancy as a leader in delivering eCommerce solutions, including thought leadership in emerging trends, customer experience (CX) improvements, and back-office innovations.

Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • Extensive consulting experience in eCommerce and retail tech.
    • Proven track record in a similar technology leadership role for eCommerce and general software development projects.
    • Hands-on expertise with tools and software required for strategy, design, architecture, and execution of roadmaps.
  • Skills & Expertise:

    • Experience leading eCommerce platform delivery and enhancing client experiences (CX).
    • Deep understanding of programming, system architecture, and project management in an eCommerce setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to guide clients, manage large-scale eCommerce technology projects, and build strong client relationships.
    • Ability to mentor colleagues and foster a high-performance culture in large, multidisciplinary teams.
    • Proven experience contributing to strategic planning and decision-making at the executive level, ensuring eCommerce technology solutions align with business objectives.
  • Additional Skills:

    • Strong client-facing skills with experience in vendor selection and management.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and empowerment with clients, stakeholders, and teams.
