About the Client

Your primary role will be supporting Kraft Heinz, a leading global food company, for the past three years. Apply Digital has a wide-ranging mandate to drive Kraft Heinz's digital transformation. Our work has resulted in numerous milestones, including the launch of the What's Happening app, the reworking of 120+ brand sites in over 20 languages, and implementing a robust Customer Data Platform (CDP). The work has earned multiple industry awards.

The Role: Staff Programmer/Technology Lead

As a key technical leader within the front-end engineering team, the Staff Programmer/Technology Lead will drive the design and development of high-performance, scalable, and efficient web applications. This role requires strong proficiency in modern front-end technologies, experience with design system architecture, and a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences for enterprise clients.

Approximately 20% of your time will be spent mentoring engineers, making architecture decisions, and driving cross-functional collaboration with front-end, QA, and back-end engineers.

Key responsibilities will include staying ahead of modern front-end technologies, optimizing performance, and keeping up with client experience trends.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the architecture and development of scalable, performant, and reusable front-end applications.
  • Drive the adoption of modern front-end frameworks and technologies, particularly React.js and Next.js.
  • Optimize applications for Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID) for high performance and user experience.
  • Collaborate with designers and UX teams to implement seamless, accessible, and visually appealing interfaces.
  • Maintain scalable component architecture using Storybook, Tailwind CSS, or similar libraries.
  • Implement client-side state management solutions, particularly React Query.
  • Work closely with back-end teams to optimize REST API integrations and ensure efficient data fetching and caching strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and QA automation specialists.
  • Lead front-end testing efforts, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Integrate third-party headless CMS (Contentful) and personalization engines (Algolia, Cloudinary, Talon.One, Segment).
  • Collaborate with Tech Leads and cross-functional teams to ensure front-end scalability, security, and performance.
  • Stay updated with cutting-edge front-end technologies, improving development workflows and tools.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal communication).
  • Experience leading the delivery of high-quality applications and mentoring engineers, QA specialists, and data analysts.
  • Experience working with remote teams in North America and Latin America (LATAM), ensuring smooth collaboration across time zones.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, Next.js (14+), and React.js (18+).
  • Strong understanding of a11y and WCAG standards.
  • Extensive experience with CSS, especially Tailwind CSS.
  • Experience with component-based development, design systems, and frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of API usage patterns, including REST, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
  • Performance optimization experience including code-splitting, lazy loading, image optimization, and CDN strategies.
  • Knowledge of headless CMS (Contentful).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
  • Experience with containerization technologies for development environments.
  • Understanding of Google Cloud Run as a web application runtime environment.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for front-end deployments (preferably GitHub Actions).
  • Knowledge of front-end security best practices (CSP, OWASP Top 10, OAuth, JWT).

Good to Haves:

  • Experience with edge computing and serverless solutions (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, Vercel).
  • Knowledge of micro frontends and monolithic architectures.
  • Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and service workers.
  • Understanding of internationalization (i18n) and localization strategies.
  • Experience implementing A/B testing and personalization tools (Ninetailed, Segment).
  • Experience with headless eCommerce platforms like CommerceTools.
