Team Overview

Global Data Repository (GDR) — This is Mastercard’s leading technology vault, housing enriched data from cardholder transactions and merchant data such as from airlines and hotels. The GDR powers several Mastercard business products, including SmartData.gen2, a mobile, global solution for payment data and information management.

The Applications Development Team is composed of self-organizing and highly effective individuals across multiple roles, including developers, testers, analysts, designers, project managers, and product owners. Our team follows Agile SAFE methodologies to deliver work efficiently, with teams spread across Pune, India, and St. Louis, USA.


Role Overview

This is a Programmer Quality role within the GDR application for Mastercard’s business products based in Pune. In this role, you will work closely with the Product Owner, Development Team, and Technical Project Manager (TPM) to ensure the highest standards of quality for the GDR application.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Owner, Development Team, TPM) to understand features and design test conditions.
  • Design and create manual and automated test cases, reporting them in ALM tools.
  • Identify which tests can be automated and which require manual execution, and develop automation scripts accordingly.
  • Determine test data setup needs and ensure the data is correctly arranged in the application before testing begins.
  • Execute tests (manual or automated) and report test results using ALM tools.
  • Ensure that the bug/defect lifecycle is followed through ALM tools, and re-test to verify defect resolution.
  • Maintain and update the regression test suite with new test cases as part of each release.
  • Run the regression test suite before each release and record results to confirm the quality of the release.
  • Engage with the wider Quality Engineering organization at Mastercard to apply best practices within the team.
  • Collaborate with teams involved in performance tuning, security engineering, and the delivery team to ensure defect-free production releases.
  • Conduct interoperability tests with upstream and downstream applications for each component.

Skills & Experience

Required:

  • A high-energy individual passionate about quality engineering.
  • Strong understanding of the quality engineering lifecycle.
  • Ability to critically think about features and identify tests that cover all potential scenarios.
  • Experience in testing Java applications (Web applications, APIs, clusters).
  • Hands-on experience with relevant automation tools/frameworks for web application, API, and cluster testing.
  • Solid experience with manual testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile software development processes (preferably SAFE).
  • Experience with ALM tools like Jira.
  • Strong desire to stay updated with new development tools and techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in performance tuning, security engineering, or delivery management.
